About Me
Art Is Real.
It moves through us in all we do. It lives and breathes. It's just a matter of letting ourselves see it.
My name is Jeffrey Wright and I believe that everyone deserves to be happy and inspired. I aspire to brighten those around me. I paint constantly and push myself to learn more and increase my talent to bring inspiration to anyone who happens to see my creativity. My goal is to inspire you to be like lightning, shine bright and shake the world. My art is one way I reach out to people and help brighten their lives, even if my painting is a Nightscape. Art is one aspect to my creative side. Music, writing, and entertaining are my other.

"Be like lightning; shine bright and shake the world.”
- Jeffrey Wright |
In my high school years, my love for art grew tenfold. By grade 11, I had taken all the available art classes one can take. However, I wasn't pouring over paintings and artwork for my teacher, I was playing guitar because I finished my work early. My teacher let me, the class seemed to enjoy it (I think).
After high school, I painted for maybe a year off and on with oil paints, I made quite a few paintings and eventually became too busy to continue. Work slipped into my life like a virus that ate away at my creativity. On the rare occasion I would take a minute to paint another oil painting. More recently close to my 30's I started again. Instead of getting these horrible urges of needing to paint, I started stealing time to do it. |
But then, like a bolt of lightning and the awakening of the thunder, I had to paint. Not my usual landscape paintings but lightning. I needed to paint nightscapes, emotions, and depth. Something that I felt my stale daytime landscapes failed to achieve for me.
My paintings have rarely been of places that exist. They were painted based on the feeling of familiarity. Every painting connects me to somewhere I've experienced, evoking a, "I feel like I've been there," feeling. They are meant to draw out a sense of longing and desire to be where they are. If only one could jump through the canvas. If only I were C. S. Louis. |
Art isn't my only passion. I am passionate about many things. Art has always been my first love, but music quickly became an equal. Writing lyrics and creating new songs consumed me. I also love writing stories and books, entertaining, philosophy, psychology, business, learning, my family, and my God. Keep in mind, the order is not a representation of my priorities.
I believe that we have an obligation to enjoy this life. Happiness comes and goes like waves on the shore and there is always joy to be found in the art of life. |
